Happy Monday loves! I feel like the weekend came and went way to fast. Anyone else feel like time is just flying by and Summer is quickly fading (raising my hand). I’ve even seen that school has started back for many of you around the country. Seems unreal. Yikes! Well it’s that time again, an entry into my travel diary and this time it’s on Stowe Mountain Lodge in Vermont. We have certainly done quite a bit of traveling this Summer with 2-3 more trips planned for the rest of the year. As a New Englander, for all my life, there is nothing like the quaint history and natural beauty that is New England. One of favorite New England getaway states to travel to from Connecticut is Vermont. Why you ask? Well Vermont has so much to do besides skiing, which they are world famous for. Whether you enjoy fly fishing, hiking, horseback riding or simply just want to getaway for a romantic getaway or family vacation, Vermont is for you.
Stowe Mountain Lodge is a luxury destination resort for both families and love birds alike. They know how to treat their guests and the property has everything you need for a getaway staycation (meaning you literally don’t even have to leave the property if you don’t want to).
My husband and I stayed there for two days out of a five day trip we took a few weeks ago. I must say, we are a bit of travel snobs and prefer to stay at boutique/luxury places whenever we travel because of the the level of service and in which we recieve. This was our second time staying at Stowe Mountain Lodge, so that really says something (we really LOVE this place)!
Once you turn the corner to enter the hotel, you are met with a grand view that looks like it’s straight out of a movie. The Stowe Mountain Lodge’s upscale rustic architecture, refined rustic décor and grandness of the entry/lobby takes you away to a whole new world right away upon arrival. The front desk staff is beyond helpful and accommodating to help you feel at ease and welcomed. The property is quite grand but don’t worry, even though you may feel like you will get lost, there are signs all over to guide you to where you want to be (it’s one of the things I really like about the property).
Once we entered our junior suite we were reminded of exactly why we love this place and wanted to return. The suite was spacious and laid out well, the sheets were seriously and I mean seriously soft for hotel sheets (we bought two pairs as they are sold in the spa) well appointed with fluffy robes, luxurios toiletries, and most of all great views over looking the surrounding green mountains. If you follow me on Instagram you know just how beautiful our sutie view was since I shared it on my instastory. Our bathroom had a soaking tub in it, which as you can imagine I clearly took advantage of.
Wonder what my hubby is so contently looking at?
Why that AMAZING view from our room of course.
Once we settled in we went down for a swim in their heated pool (heated just right even for a summer day). We sipped on beer and cocktails by the pool and totally enjoyed the day soaking in the sun. For dinner that night we ate at the more casual restaurant of the two you have access to, Hour Glass Lounge. The craft beer selection is wonderful and our burger was cooked to order and tasted amazing along with the other light fare we ordered. Our waitress was delightful and super sweet.
The food itself was a delight and full of flavor and creativity.
We had quite the adventurous experience the next day as both my hubby and I zip lined for the first time together! (cue the the hand over the mouth) because I’m afraid of heights and I did that! I DID THAT! It’s still surreal when I think about it. Me. Zip lining. I defiantly attribute my success to doing it to the attendant at the top of the zip line course. I started crying a bit and wanted to chicken out. His calm voice, reassurance of my safety and ensuring my gear was comfortable to use, really put my mind at ease to let me know “you got this”. It was AMAZING! I’ll never forget that experience. Thank you Mr. zip line attendant. You made this girl face and get over one of her biggest fears! SML is lucky to have you on their staff!
Before our gondola ride to do the zip line course 🙂
Later that day my husband and I enjoyed a couples soak and massage (um yes, it was amazing and we both fell asleep) and I enjoyed a HydraFacial. If you don’t know what that is, well, let’s just say it’s one of the most rejuvenating and results driven treatments you can receive. Your skin is deeply exfoliated and custom treated to your skin type/concerns that give your skin a glow that last up to two weeks. I got so many compliments on my skin after. Any spa that offers a HydraFacial is serious about delivering results to their patrons. It’s that good of a skin treatment! Overall the spa at Stowe Mountain Lodge is one of the best I have had the pleasure of be pampered at while traveling!
Later that night we dined on the perfect steak dinner at Soltice, the other, more fine dining restaurant on the property .(p.s. they grow much of the herbs they use in their cooking right there on the property)! We also enjoyed a hearty and well balance breakfast each morning we were there.
Before we left, we were able to view some the other rooms/suites that are available for guests to use. They have many options for those seeking to come alone for a romantic getaway, those looking to gather together with a few families in multi-bedroom suites.
If the ultimate luxury of actually owning your own residence in the beautiful green mountains of Stowe is a dream of yours, they have many options for you to consider, just get in touch with them.
Overall the property is a place for adventure, relaxation and making family memories. They have all sorts of activities for both the young and the young at heart. Truthfully, it’s the kind of resort that once you arrive, you won’t want to leave. They have everything on the property from a coffee café to a theater for the arts as well as small luxury shops and boutiques. In the winter, of course, world renowned skiing is available as well as a fun ice rink for the entire family to enjoy. Make Stowe Mountain Lodge a destination for your family. You will make memories that are sure to be talked about for years to come!
