Tips for Throwing A Wine Dinner Party
Summer time is the perfect time to entertain friends and family and host a wine dinner party. With that said, I invited some blogging friends, Yinka of Yours Truly Yinka, Rachel of Pinteresting Plans, and Nonee of Noneesworld along with some friends for a wine dinner party with Sequoia Grove. Let me tell you, I love wine, but a great, wait…EXTRAORDINARY bottle of wine has this girl doing cartwheels, handstands and all sorts of happy dances (ummm lets be real, I can’t do cartwheels and handstands, BUT) I truly do enjoy a well developed bottle of wine.
For the wine dinner party we enjoyed both a red and white wine from Sequoia Grove. Sequoia Grove is a family-owned winery located in the heart of Napa Valley’s Rutherford. Their consistent philosophy of making wines with varietal character that are reflective of the land helped establish Sequoia Grove as one of the premier Cabernet Sauvignon producers in Napa Valley. The one thing I have to say, is that I have enjoyed fine wine for years now. I was pleasantly surprised with how smooth both the Cabernet Sauvignon!!! There were no harsh tannins and EVERYONE at the wine dinner party talked about how awesome and smooth it went down. The Chardonnay was so crisp and refreshing. I swear Sequoia Grove must be some sort of hidden gem because I hadn’t heard much about them. My oh my this wine is now on the top of my “do you know where…” list when I head to the wine store next.
If you want to throw your own wine dinner party, here are some simple and easy tips to making it a smashing success.
TIP #1. Make it special and set the mood. From the napkins to the plate chargers to scented candles and flowers. You want your guest to feel welcome and that you took the time to make the evening special for them. // Napkins – Ralph Lauren from HomeGoods // Plate Chargers from Pier 1
TIP #2. Serve food that pairs well with the wines you are serving. That night I served chicken to accompany the white wine and brisket for the red meat to accompany the red wine.
Also served were classics like crackers and cheese and Mozzarella/Tomato and Basil salad (Thank you Ryan) it was delicious!
TIP #3. Offer a variety of wine. I served BOTH red and white as you never know which variety of wine your guests prefer.
My friends jokingly call me Martha lol…but, if you follow some of these easy entertaining tips, you too will make your next wine dinner party one that your guests won’t forget.

Love Sequoia Grove wines. The Cab and chardonnay’s are always great pics when having a dinner party.
#1 is always the hardest for me but actually I feel the most important. You want to make your guests feel special so setting the right mood is important.
Great post, thanks!
