So I’ve created a guest room that even I want to sleep in over the Master bedroom. I’ve hinted to some of the updates that were happening over on Instagram, but today I’m happy to share the whole bedroom reveal with you all.
Thank you to Raymour and Flanigan for helping me bring my vision to life.
The Moody Walls:
Oh man, this was a bold move for me and I’m loving the decision. At first I was going to just do an accent wall behind the headboard, but I went into the room after the wall dried overnight and said to myself how cozy the room would feel if all the wall were dark. I had a few moody walls in our last home and never thought I’d do them here in the this house, but I’m so happy I went for it. I LOVE the cozy feel dark paint brings to a space. The color is called Tar from Farrow and Ball.
Furniture:
The goal for this guest room was for it to feel like a getaway for anyone that stays over in it. I wanted it to feel like the many luxury boutique hotels we have stayed in but with my signature modern meets vintage design aesthetic.
I was immediately drawn to the casual but luxury feel of the Lorient Upholstered Bed. A tufted design in any piece of furniture is an easy way to instantly elevate a space. Although Raymour and Flanigan has headboards similar to this, I really liked the idea of a full bed so that a bedskirt wouldn’t be needed. What’s a luxurious bedroom without a comfortable bed for your guest to sleep on.
When I was mattress shopping at the store the minute I laid on the bed I said to the manager “OK this is the one”! You guys, if a firm yet comfortable mattress is what you are looking for look, look no further than the King Koli Charlton mattress. With the combination of gel infused memory foam and cool to touch cover, this mattress contours to your body while providing temperature regulation both inside and out. It’s the kind of mattress that provides support but is also super comfortable delivering a good nights rest. There is also a King Koli high profile box spring that goes with the mattress.
Because the guest room isn’t very big, I could only fit one nightstand in it. The Hempstead Nightstand I chose for the room not only was classically transitional in it’s style and tone, but it works for those who appreciate smart technology with two cleverly placed outlets and two USB ports inside the top drawers.
I think every guest room, if space allows, should have a comfortable place for your guest to sit back and unwind or cozy up with a good book and blanket. The Southampton Living Room Chair was exactly the right size, style and comfort level the room needed. With it’s timeless appeal, this upholstered chair with a stylish skirt is both comfortable and simple all in one. (It comes in several colors for those who want something other than grey) – The color I have is called Crafty.
To ground the room I looked for a rug that was soft, but had some visual interest in its pattern and still looked classic in it’s appeal. Since the room’s design is very simple and not cluttered, I thought a rug with a fun and interesting pattern would add some visual appeal. The Trinity Area Rug (which comes in 3 colors) was the perfect pick. The pile isn’t to low or to high, but soft to the touch and pleasure to walk on. Your guest will love it.
Vintage Accessories:
Noting my signature modern meets vintage style, the brass vintage clock complimented the naturals tones and sat perfectly on top to the vintage books. Above the bed I sourced a natural vintage art sketch that was the perfect size above the headboard. The mirror above the dresser I loved as a monochromatic yet contrasted look to the wall. It’s vintage and perfect about the dresser.
Creating a a space your guest want to come back to time and time again is something anyone can do. If you are looking to add some extra special touches, try adding a few extra things to the room. A vanity of books with varied interested, bottled water and snacks, yes snacks. How nice would it be for your guest to have access to a little midnight snack without feeling guilty they may wake you up going into the kitchen. Don’t forget a little speaker, some people really enjoy music and may really enjoy that nice touch.
A few things I want to point out about why I love Raymour and Flanigan and have shaped with them over the years. They:
