THE INSPIRATION PHOTO
Happy Monday and boy oh boy was it an awesome weekend. Had lots of fun with the hubby going to the movies, for a walk and out to dinner. I visited my daughter in New York and I got to finally get my nails done. Now if I can only find some me time for my wax and my pedi. The holiday season is upon us and Christmas, my favorite holiday, officially begins for me in about another week or so. I’ve been picking up little decor pieces here and there when I see something I like so I can’t wait to decorate! One of the decor pieces will be this pretty ornamental display I made, along with some other talented bloggers listed at the end of this post, in partnership with the Home Depot. After we received our inspiration photo (above) I wanted to figure out how I would make mine to go along with my design esthetics. Once I put the project together, I knew I didn’t want to paint the wood. I did that on this DIH Workshop project. I decided I would use the MinWax Wood stain in the White Wash Pickling finish to give the wood a light creamy color. Once the ornaments were glued on, I thought long and hard about what would top the ornament tree and what would the base. Lo and behold I had the perfect rustic wood star sitting in my office and it was just the right size. For the tree stumps, I decided to bring a little outdoors inside. So outside I went to gather tiny broken branches that I knew would look just right gathered together to make a tree stump. After the project was done. I stood back and was like YES! So happy with how it turned out.

Your ornament display is very pretty Sandra! It looks lovely on your buffet. The twigs are a great addition for the trunk.

Hi Gail, thanks so much! Wasn’t sure what I would use as the trunk but in the end I was happy with how the twig trunk came out.
